Guide to Looking Stylish in This Post-Pandemic Era

After a year of getting out of bed, putting on my pajamas, and picking out a more stylish pair of sweatpants to walk the three blocks to my desk for Zoom classes, my dream of never having to worry about my attire again became a reality. That dream turned into a nightmare when SFU announced the reopening of the campus. It was clear that I needed to activate the part of my brain that responds to true style. With these key concepts in mind, I believe we will return to campus in our stylish looks. These latest fashion trends are a must to try. You can read more here. Now let’s look at how we can be fashionable in this post-pandemic era.
Comfortability and Confidence
My golden rule when it comes to styling outfits is always to wear what you wear. If clothes are designed for us, we shouldn’t feel constricted or smothered by our buttons. For the past year, I’ve been wearing plus-size clothes my whole life. Now I don’t want to feel uncomfortable. The best way to dress is to find clothes that flatter your body and make you feel confident and comfortable.
This idea can be hard to grasp because of the different sizing systems in stores. These systems create expectations and confuse customers. It can be confusing to find a medium size in one store and a smaller size in another. Size numbering should be indicative and not mandatory for all stores. It is pretty standard for sizes to differ from one brand to another. This can be not very pleasant, but it is normal. It means trying on different shirts and pants to find out which one fits you best.
Sweat Outfit Trends
It’s a great time to be alive! Sweatpants are all the rage right now. For me, this was a new concept. My mom always told us that growing up. We looked unprofessional and messy in sweatpants in public. So I didn’t dare go out in them. In the past year, matching sweatshirts have been a popular choice for those who work remotely. These outfits have even found their way onto the high fashion runways. This is the perfect scenario for transitioning from our pandemic attire to working in the real world.
A sweatshirt or t-shirt and matching sweatpants can elevate the casual look. The extra fabric creates a more defined silhouette, which balances the proportions of the outfit. Another option is a matching oversized sweatshirt. I prefer crewneck tops when I want to look more dressy and professional. I think the lack of drawstrings, kangaroo pockets, and zippers improves the overall look.
Casual Classics
You can opt for simple basics like jeans and a t-shirt if you don’t feel like wearing sweatshirts. The jeans I’m referring to are a loose, straight-cut model. Straight-cut jeans are available at thrift stores and online stores like H&M. They can be comfortable and flattering. Straight-leg jeans can be ankle or shoe length. This look can be achieved with an option in the range, as long as you feel comfortable.
The top can be paired with jeans in the same way as the sweaty ensemble. Find fun and unique t-shirts at your local thrift store to get this look. You can also buy t-shirts from artists I’ve never heard of, like me. I see four men in a t-shirt, and I decide to wear it.
