Volunteer Opportunities
Are you outgoing, friendly, good with people?
Do you like to use equipment, climb ladders, learn new things?
Then we'd like to talk to you about being a Volunteer at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre.
The R.E.M. Lee Theatre attracts over 64,000 patrons a year to theatre, music and dance performances, lectures, seminars and special events. Come spend some quality time with people who share your passion for the performing arts!
There are lots of volunteer positions available. Come and join the Theatre Alive crew as they sell food and drinks during intermissions, and assist artists in their CD sales.
Help during performances as a backstage runner, being the eyes and ears of the production from behind the scenes.
Become part of our office staff - update files, take minutes, do media and webpage updates, inventory consumables.
Learn to run the sound and lighting consoles, be a lighting/sound technician.
Or take on a special project - cable or lighting maintenance, theatre historian, lobby improvements, the list is endless!
What we ask of you...Call the theatre to arrange an interview with our theatre manager. We'll discuss your interests and assess your skills, and look at the time you have available to volunteer.
You are welcome and encouraged to volunteer as often as you like. Students can volunteer to fulfill their CAPP hours.
Abide by a dress code: wear appropriate clothing when working front of house or concession, and wear theatre blacks (black pants and shirt) when working backstage.
Treat all members of the team, all performers and all theatre patrons with respect.
What you get from us...R.E.M. Lee Theatre volunteers:
Have the right to see shows at which they work. The amount of each show that you see will depend on the position for which you have signed up.
Free pop, tea or coffee while working.
Opportunity to meet new friends who share your passion for the arts.
You will need the physical ability to be on your feet for an extended time and to climb stairs.
