R.E.M Lee Theatre - General InformationThe theatre is owned and operated by School District #82 - Coastal Mountains. All functions or concerts are arranged through the Theatre Manager.
LocationThe theatre stands on its own grounds at 4920 Straume Avenue adjacent to Caledonia Senior Secondary School, and only one block away from Skeena Jr. Secondary School. It is only a short distance from Terrace s downtown area.
The AuditoriumThe auditorium will seat 702 persons. The distance from the back of the house to the front of the stage apron is 18.6 metres. The acoustics are suitable for dramatic presentations, as well as musical events ranging from soloists to full symphony orchestras.
The Stage and WingsThe stage proscenium opening is 12 metres wide by 4 metres high with 6 metres of wing space on either side. The stage is 9 metres deep with an apron 4.4 metres in front of the curtain line. There is a clear height of 4.3 metres above the stage.
The theatre is equipped with 96 ETC dimmers of 2.4k capacity on each dimmer and a 24/48 ETC lighting console. The theatre maintains an inventory of 98 instruments along with some assorted gels and gobos.
The Wings are small and have limited space - Wing Stage Left: 6 m x 6 m - 2.7 m height clearance - Wing Stage Right: 4 m x 4 m - 3.3 m clearance
Choral risers are sometimes available. Wenger series 23A1, collapsible three step choir riser: 4 units @ 3' X 6.5'.

The drapes are all black except for the proscenium curtain, or main drape, which is blue. The cyclorama is white. (note: the cyclorama is somewhat stretched)
The Orchestra PitThe orchestra pit is 2.5 metres wide and 13.4 metres in length. The pit is covered by 0.6 metre wide by 2.5 metre deep panels. These sections are movable, allowing them to be used in three different arrangements:
first, with the panels and supports removed for use by an orchestra when accompanying a stage presentation;
second, raised to the level of the seating floor as a floor level stage for drama presentations or band concerts;
and third, raised to stage level to form a forward extension of the stage.
The Dressing RoomsThe two dressing rooms are located behind and separated from the stage by a 2 metre wide corridor. They are provided with with make-up mirrors and make-up lights, costume racks, hand basins and toilets. The rooms will accommodate up to fifteen persons each.
The Control RoomLocated at the rear of the house, the room contains the sound and lighting boards and related equipment as follows:

also contains an intercom system with lines SR and SL, light control, sound control, orchestra pit, FOH Lighting, cat-walk and lobby. The stage lighting is operated from the control room.
The Loading AreaThe loading area is located at stage left, immediately off stage where a 15 metre trailer can easily back up. The stage-level dock is 0.85 metres from ground level and has a maximum clearance height of 2.4 metres with a clear width of 2.3 metres.
PianosThe theatre has two pianos: a Yamaha Concert Grand (CFIIIS - 275 cm long) and a Samick upright (SU-121 - 121 cm high); both are tuned to A440.
The Lobby AreaThe lobby area is spacious and has carpeted stairways on each side which lead to the foyer and the entrance at the rear of the house. It is equipped with a manager s office, a concession counter, washrooms and a kitchenette. Track lighting on both the ground floor and the mezzanine provide ample wall space for almost any size art exhibit.
